Pawn Takes Pawn

Other things im starting to remember.
The drums. I remember early on that
we had a struggle with the kick drum.
It sounded pretty boomy and hard.
so we put a blanket inside near the
bottom right up against the head.
But this provided too dull of a sound.
I also had a heavy book on the blanket
to keep it in place, so we took that
out and we found a good 'tween spot.

Not to dull and just enough boom to be happy
with.

Now during tracking i'd adjust things here and
there. these are the first drums that i didnt compress the
whole mix going to tape, but rather inserted on the
kick and snare. That was fun to play around with.
I wish i spent more time with it though, i could definatly
hear it on the kick, but im not so certian about the snare.

The snare. Bear had this *nice* DW snare that was just loud and in
your face. said he spent like 700$ on it! yikes. thats a lot of cash.
in the first few songs it didnt seem loud enough, so i turned it up,
then the toms werent loud enough, so i turned them up, so it was a
song to song basis of adjusting the drums. might be a good thing, your
ears wont get tired of the drum sounds since they change a little here
and there.

Looks like a couple of solo projects are in the works for the future.
Chris from Army of Trees has a few songs he wants to work on,
and Dan from the secretions has some solo work to pound out.
